For the last month, I’ve been posting pointless updates to Facebook, and during that time, I didn’t receive any replies or comments.
I found that odd. It’s not that I get tons of feedback. Honestly, the majority of people I know don’t really care what I have to say. That’s mostly because most of what I say is nonsense, but that’s really beside the point. Notice I didn’t say besides the point. I HATE when people say that. It’s beside the point! See — this is part of the nonsense I was just talking about.
Anyway, I wrote something on my wall, and when my girlfriend went to check it, it wasn’t there. None of my other wall postings were there either. I checked out the “how others see your profile” feature and sure enough, no one could see my wall.
So, I began troubleshooting. I checked my privacy settings, and everything was in order. I tried logging out and logging back in. I tried using different web browsers: IE, FireFox, Safari. Nothing worked.
Then, I tried checking Facebook’s help page, which is a huge joke. It features a Q&A page. But, the answers are mostly people just saying that have the same problem but can’t figure it out. I tried Googling the problem. No solutions, just the same BS as on the FB help page: a Q&A page with no answers.
So, I reported the issue to Facebook, which is more difficult than splitting an atom by hand. It’s virtually impossible to find a contact us page to report your problem directly to tech support. You can submit a bug report, but they “don’t respond to every bug report.”
I figured this was the best route to go because everything else was failing like an automaker. (Too soon?) Anyway, I explained my issue and sent it along.
Two days after receiving no responses, I tried searching for an answer again. And again, I got the same result. I tried posting to tech forums and got zero replies.
I did, however, find another place where you could report problems to FB. Unfortunately, it’s for developers only, so the average douche can’t submit problems. So, that obviously didn’t help.
I submitted another bug report to FB, thinking, “Maybe they missed my first one because a lot of people are sending them bug reports.” Three days later — no response.
Finally, I was fed up. I couldn’t find any answers and everywhere I checked was a dead end. So, I tried the bug report one more time. This time, I basically said, “F— FB.” Well, not really because I did want to them to fix the problem. But, I did voice my frustration, and told them I was contemplating “discontinuing use of FB.”
Two and a half hours later, I received an email: “This problem should now be resolved. Sorry for any inconvenience, and enjoy the site! Let me know if you have any further questions.”
I’m tempted to write back and ask where the F they were for a week, but it isn’t worth it. At least my account is fixed.
I guess next time I should lead with a threat to leave FB.

Likewise, I HATE when people say mind your business It’s mind your OWN business. Sheesh.
